The Directors

Malcolm R Pennington FCA

Malcolm was born on Merseyside and has lived on the Wirral since 1960. He was educated in North Wales and Derbyshire, after which he served his Articles with one of the oldest firms of Chartered Accountants in Liverpool.

Admitted as a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1971, Malcolm is the firms Administration Director. He has a good deal of experience in handling the affairs of "Family" companies, professional partnerships and trusts, and heads up the I.T. team. He enjoys all sports and is a keen golfer and badminton player. Malcolm is married with a son and daughter.

David I H Hunter FCA

David was born in Birkenhead and lived on the Wirral for 40 years. He completed his Articles with a medium-sized firm in Liverpool, being admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1973

He joined an international firm of chartered accountants on qualifying and worked for them in the United Kingdom and Australia. On returning to this country, he joined the firm in 1975, becoming a partner in 1978. He is the firm's audit/regulation Director and is responsible for the firms human resources management. He takes a special interest in the provision of business advisory services to small and medium sized enterprises. He is married with two children and two step children and lives in North Wales.

Lee B Webster FCCA

Lee has lived in the Wirral all his life where he attended Wirral Grammar school.

He joined the firmin 1989 becoming qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1997, he became a director in 2004.

He specialises in dealing with growing businesses assisting them with their planning , forecasting and monitoring functions. He is a keen sportsman enjoying squash, tennis and football.

Gary Cullen ACA, CTA

Gary was born in Liverpool and has lived on the Wirral since 1990, He attended university at Lancaster and served his articles with a small firm in Bootle.

On qualifying in 1984 he joined an international firm in Liverpool working in their tax department and was admitted to the institute of taxation in 1986. He joined the firmin 1990.

Gary is the firm's tax director, ensuring all clients' tax affairs are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner, as well as providing them with up-to-date and pertinent tax planning and advice. Gary is a keen hill walker and enjoys listening to classical music.

The Managers

Michael Risnes - AAT

Michael was born in Oxford and has lived on the Wirral since 1978.

Qualifying as an accounting technician with the firm in 1993 he went on to be admitted as an affiliate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2005.

He re-joined the firm in 2006 having been a practice manager of a small to medium sized firm in Liverpool.

As well as all round accounting and audit experience Michael's specialist areas include the complex audit of Credit Unions, Charities, Police Federations and Hotel group accounts.

Michael's interests also include playing football and tennis.

Mark D Soul FMAAT

Mark was born in Birkenhead and has lived there all his life.

He joined the firm in 1990 on leaving school. He qualified as an Accounting Technician in 1994 becoming a fellow member in 2005.

He progressed to becoming the accounts office supervisor in September 2004 and became manager in November 2006. He is the link between the Directors of the company and the other accounts staff and manages the through flow of work ensuring statutory and non-statutory deadlines are met.

Terry Philips B.A. (Econ) F.C.C.A

Terry was born in Liverpool and has lived on the Wirral since 1974. He attended Sheffield University, after which he worked in industry, ultimately qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1974, and becoming a Fellow of the Association a short time later.

After being admitted to the Association of Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, he joined an international firm in Liverpool, where he became an assistant audit manager. He joined Pennington Williams in 1981 as audit manager.

Terry specialises in the preparation of financial accounts, and carrying out audits, including the firms's solicitor and company pension clients.
